There's possibly an argument that inflicting ideas of eternal damnation on vulnerable youngsters constitutes child abuse on the grounds of mental cruelty, but I can't see there ever being a law against it. Apart from that, I think you're right; it's better to have freedom of speech. We have to put up with other people's freedom to state their views, no matter how much we might abhor them, as the price of our freedom to state our own.
