Does anyone else hate it when people take lessons for granted?

I have a friend who makes me so angry. She took piano lessons for years, and then just quit, went out and bought a viola, and now is out for cello lessons. She doesn't even realize how lucky she is. Every instrument I know I've had to teach myself. I had to work around bad technique, never got to go to a single recital, nothing.
