Is my way of 'getting over' him a good way?

Facebook has an option that lets you hide a person's status updates/anything that might pop up on your newsfeed if that's another concern. But as far as your relationship with him right now, I think it might be time to move on. You could have had something a while ago if either one of you tried to make something out of it, but that didn't happen so there's nothing to do about it. If you want a summer fling, be the one to talk to him more and see what's going on. But if you want to move on, then just do so without cutting off all your ties with him.
